The Wyoming Small Business Development Center Network is hosting a two-day workshop in Sheridan on small business innovation research (SBIR). SBIR is the funding mechanism that companies like Kennon Products in Sheridan and Mountain Meadow Wool in Buffalo used to do R&D. Jim Greenwood, nationally recognized SBIR expert, will lead the workshop, which is offered at no-cost to Wyoming individuals and small businesses.
SBIR Proposal Preparation Day 1

This session begins with a comprehensive overview of the SBIR and STTR programs, including differentiation between the two programs and significant changes that are occurring as a result of recent re-authorization. It then continues into an extended discussion of a simple but effective four-step process for developing a Phase I proposal to any of the participating SBIR/STTR agencies, and concludes with a brief view of sample Phase I proposals.
SBIR Cost Accounting Day 2

This session delves into the perplexing world of government accounting, and the all-important SBIR/STTR cost proposal. This workshop focuses on development of an indirect rate (aka overhead, fringe, F&A, G&A) for your company, and then how to apply that rate to an accurate and defensible cost proposal as part of your Phase I or II SBIR/STTR proposals. IF you don't learn this stuff, and try to wing it, you will make mistakes and you will lose money.
