Matthew Ramey’s passion for entrepreneurship and business can be traced back to when he was 11 years old – selling Avon makeup door to door. What started as a way to help his family, who were facing hard times, transformed Matt into the type of person who believes he can make the world a better place for those around him with hard work and perseverance. Since his days of selling Avon, Matt has used his extensive knowledge and experience, garnered over more than 35 years in higher education, financial operations, technology, human resources, budget management, and leadership to inspire others, streamline business practices, and innovatively solve complex problems. Today he serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Peregrine Global Services.
Matt is a solutions-oriented leader who values collaboration, communication, and aligning organizational processes with strategic goals and shared values. Matt’s leadership journey started after leaving his family’s construction business and serving in engineering and network operations roles in the public and government sectors. He refined his leadership abilities during his 5-year tenure at Gillette College in Wyoming as a college instructor and Informational Technology Director.
Matt fondly recounts how working in education for the first time gave him a transformed sense of purpose. He found joy in lending his talents and unique perspective to improve institutions, as evidenced by his time as Chief Information Officer at Northern Wyoming Community College District and Chief Finance & Operations Officer at Johnson County School District No. 1. In 12 years of supporting excellence within those organizations, Matt successfully established multi-million-dollar budgets, wrote academic, financial, and feasibility reports and grants. He also created new programs, projects, and initiatives. Matt laid the foundation for growth and improvement by establishing multi-year technology master plans, financial and operational policies and procedures, and a multi-year facilities master plan.
In 2018, Matt was met with an opportunity to pursue his enthusiasm for both education and entrepreneurism at Peregrine Global Services as the Chief Financial and Operating Officer. For 5 years, Matt owned the administrative, financial, and operational functions of the business and was accountable for developing and implementing a corporate accounting system; payroll; strategic budget; capital allocation; and human resource plans, quality assurance, service development, business process improvement, and operational excellence. Today, Matt fulfills the role of Chief Executive Officer. He holds a passion for developing leaders, advocating for clients, and creating innovating solutions. Under his leadership, the Peregrine team effectively moves toward their vision. Among his team members, Matt is best known for his innate ability to coach and drive others to reach their greatest potential.
At Peregrine Global Services, Matt also serves on the board of directors, where he provides a strategic and team-based approach to the organization’s guidance, vision, and direction. In addition, he is accountable for maintaining a system of standard operating procedures and reporting and assists the organization in making best-practice, data-driven decisions to meet goals and fulfill the mission of Peregrine Global Services.
Matt is proud to lead a business whose mission is to make a difference in the world by fostering innovation, developing leaders who can solve the world’s complex problems, and improving the quality of higher education. Because Peregrine’s values resonate with Matt, he works diligently to build the business, empower his team, and ultimately be a catalyst for change.
Mr. Ramey holds three degrees, including a Master of Business Administration from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, and is currently working on his Doctorate in Educational Leadership A.B.D. at the University of Wyoming.
Outside of the office, Matt is a loving husband, father, and grandfather. If you ever have the pleasure of entering his office, you will find rows of photos that proudly display his loved ones. He is an avid fisherman and hunter and finds the most joy in these experiences when they are shared with his family and friends. Matt recently purchased an old schoolhouse in Buffalo, Wyoming, and dreams of transforming the space into a library where he can quietly philosophize and write.
